Mentor/ Protégé Program

Want to get to the next level in your career?

Ever wish you had someone who would meet with you one-on-one monthly to focus on your professional goals? Someone who has done this before? Someone who can support you and give you the freedom to grow?

The SMPS North Texas Mentor Protégé program matches entry and mid-level marketers in the A/E/C (architecture/engineering/construction) industry with mentors who have at least 5 years of additional experience and matches senior leaders in peer-to-peer mentoring relationships.

As part of the program, you will:

• Kick the program off with a one-and-a-half-hour workshop in January focused on personal development. The workshop is designed to help you set up your mentor relationship for success, and we will share what others have done so each mentor-protege pair can structure the monthly hour in a way that works for them.
• Meet monthly to discuss career development with a focus on setting and meeting goals. (Each mentor-protégé pair determines for themselves the best time to meet. Some meet for breakfast, others walk on a trail, and some connect virtually.)
• Have a trusted relationship where you can reach out to get help as you need it.
• Receive a copy of StrengthsFinder 2.0 to help you and your mentor/protégé connect and work together as effectively as possible.
• The cost to participate for the year is $95 for member protégés and $120 for non-member protégés. The program is (of course) complimentary for mentors.

To people interested in mentoring:

We hear over and over from mentors that they get as much out of the program as the proteges do. The commitment is one hour a month. All you need is at least 5 years of experience as a marketer or business developer in the AEC industry and a willingness to listen. As you and your protege meet to share experiences and resources, amazing things happen. (Plus, SMPS North Texas is here to support you.)
